Some of the best motorcycle routes take hours and hours. These endurance rides can open the door to stunning views, cross-state adventures, and unforgettable experiences. But they also require a bit more planning than the typical motorcycle ride.

Here at RC Hill Honda, we strive to make your life easier. We gathered up our favorite tips for long-distance motorcycle riding. For more tips or to shop motorcycles for sale, visit our dealership. We are located in Deland, Florida, and also serve those in Deltona and Palm Coast.

Plan Routes According to Your Physical Ability

Riding a motorcycle is physically taxing and you need to stay within your endurance level. You don't want to bite off more than you can chew and end up suffering through aching muscles and sore joints on the way back home!

If you want to tackle longer routes, take the time to build up your endurance. It also doesn't hurt to keep up with exercise outside of motorcycle riding. The better in shape you are, the longer your motorcycle rides can be.

Do a Pre-Ride Check

It'd be a shame to get halfway through your route, then uncover a mechanical problem that could've been fixed ahead of time. That's why pre-trip inspections are so important.

Before any long-distance ride, take the time to look over your motorcycle. Check everything from the tire air pressure to fluid levels, then adjust as needed. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, get it looked at by a professional. Our service department can tackle parts replacement and repairs quickly so you can hit the road in no time.

Pack Strategically

Longer rides require the basics: food, water, a tool kit, and a first aid kit. If you are staying anywhere overnight, then you will also need toiletries, any medications, and a change of clothing.

For any products you bring, choose travel-sized containers. It'll take up much less room! It's also wise to focus on only bringing the essentials. Odds are, you won't end up needing that "just in case" item. If you do, you can always swing by a store to pick it up.

Build Breaks Into the Route

As you are building out your route, remember to plan for breaks! These can be timed with stopping for a meal at a local mom-and-pop restaurant, visiting a tourist attraction, or even hiking. Breaks are important for keeping your focus up, which helps you stay safe while riding. They can also add to the enjoyment of the trip!
